City of Ammon Social Media Terms of Use

The City of Ammon, Idaho welcomes use of its various social media sites by the public to comment on matters involving the City, the public interest, and for educational and informational purposes.

The purpose of the City’s social media sites is to create a space for open discussion and interaction with the City of Ammon. These sites are also used by the City to communicate matters of public interest concerning programs, activities, news, and photos. The City welcomes public comment and encourages civil conversation.

The City’s official website, www.cityofammon.us, is the primary means of internet communication. Whenever possible, City social media accounts will link back to the official website for forms, documents, online services, and other information necessary to conduct business with the City.


Public Forum Notice

City social media accounts are public forums under the First Amendment, where visitors may engage in interactive communication. However, users should be aware that posts, comments, and messages on City social media pages have no expectation of privacy and may constitute public records subject to disclosure under the Idaho Public Records Act and the City’s records retention policies.


Content Standards

City of Ammon social media sites are routinely monitored by City staff. The City reserves the right to reject, remove, or hide content that violates the following standards:

  • Contains personal identifying or sensitive personal information;
  • Contains offensive language that targets or discriminates based on protected classes (including race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, public assistance status, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation);
  • Contains nudity, obscenity, sexual content, or links to such content;
  • Is threatening, harassing, defamatory, or a personal attack;
  • Incites or promotes violence or illegal activities;
  • Includes information that could reasonably compromise individual or public safety;
  • Promotes or endorses political campaigns, candidates, or ballot measures;
  • Contains false or misleading information;
  • Infringes on copyrights or trademarks;
  • Is not related to the topic of the post or discussion;
  • Includes commercial solicitations;
  • Is posted from accounts using fraudulent or assumed identities.

Repeated violations of this policy may result in the user being banned from the City’s social media platforms.


User Agreement

By engaging with the City’s social media pages—through posting, commenting, messaging, liking, reacting, or any other form of interaction—users acknowledge and agree to these Terms of Use.

Adherence to these guidelines helps ensure a respectful and constructive environment for all users.
